Madrid, Spain — On March 25, Invisible City and Beluga Linguistics joined forces to stage a three-and-a-half-hour online charity fundraiser gig via Zoom to support those affected by the ongoing conflict.
Artists for Ukraine brought together 22 independent artists from countries including, Georgia, Portugal, India, Spain, and Egypt, to spread a message of hope and raise vital funds for non-profits responding to the crisis on the ground.
The almost EUR 15,000 raised from sponsorship and tickets sales was donated to Voices of Children (EUR 9,439) and Clear Global (EUR 5,213), with not a single cent spent on commissions.
“Invisible City and Beluga Linguistics, the two main organizers of this event, have both professional and personal ties with Ukraine,” said Ksenia Ashrafullina, Founder of Invisible City.
“We first came up with a list of non-profits that were in need of support. Then, we reached out to them one by one, and eventually came to the conclusion that we could make the biggest impact by channeling the majority of the funds raised by the concert to help mitigate the inevitable trauma that over one million Ukrainian children are currently facing.”
Donations from the linguistic community, on the other hand, were specifically directed to efforts to provide free linguistic support to organisations working with Ukrainian refugees .
Thanks to the generosity of event sponsors Beluga Linguistics, GlobalSaké, NHG, and Content Quo, the performers were also able to receive a fee for their contribution to the event.
