The purpose of the Beluga Mentoring Program is to upskill translators and empower them to achieve more in a connected ecosystem that Beluga helps to develop.
WHAT TO EXPECT
AS A MENTOR
As a mentor, apart from reinforcing your own knowledge and skills and passing them on to younger generations, you will have a chance to practice and improve your communication and interpersonal skills, develop your leadership and management qualities, and increase your engagement with Beluga.
AS A MENTEE
The program will put you in the driver’s seat of high-impact projects with experienced mentors and localization experts to help you fine-tune your skills while learning how cutting-edge projects are handled. You will have a chance to experience the professional translators’ responsibility and pride when their content gets published to millions of users.

Beluga's mentoring program is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to jumpstart their career in the localization industry. As a mentee, you'll gain firsthand experience and develop new skills under the guidance of experienced mentors. Mentees should have a basic understanding of TMS, but more importantly, they should possess a willingness to learn and receive constructive feedback with an open mind. Our program is perfect for emerging translators with a university degree in translation, localization, linguistics, or modern languages. That’s right, our mentoring program is completely free and it gets even better… All mentors will receive their usual rate plus a bonus to thank them for their coaching efforts. Plus, mentees will receive a market-rate fee for all work they complete during the program.

WILL I GET A JOB AT BELUGA AFTER I COMPLETE THE PROGRAM?
Although there is no guarantee of employment at Beluga upon completion of the program, we value the potential for ongoing collaboration with our program graduates. Should an opportunity arise where both parties are interested in working together, we welcome the chance to explore it further. We believe in investing in our mentees and helping them achieve their career goals.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO ENROLL IN THE PROGRAM?
As a mentee, you need to be a freelance translator with 0-2 years of experience and be interested in IT localization. If you don't know how to use any cloud-based TMS that's ok, but you need to be techy oriented.
As a mentor, you need to be an experienced translator with more than 5 years of experience working in IT localization. Ideally, you will be working in Beluga's projects as part of the client pool and you are interested in teaching and eager to invest time in younger generations of translators.
As a speaker, you need to be an expert in the localization industry in any field. You are willing to share your experience and wisdom acquired throughout the years.
